| Lore description | Characters born from a cataclysmic ink flood, reimagined with new abilities and forms. |
Floodborn is a variant of character in Disney Lorcana. Floodborn characters are reimagined versions of classic Disney characters, created when a massive wave of magical ink transformed them into new, often more powerful forms. They were first introduced in the second set, Rise of the Floodborn.
Characteristics
Floodborn characters are distinct from Storyborn (who appear exactly as in their original films) and Dreamborn (created by Illumineers' imagination). Floodborn are the result of an uncontrolled magical disaster – the "Flood" – that altered existing characters, granting them new abilities, appearances, and sometimes darker personalities.
Gameplay mechanics
Floodborn cards are primarily identified by the Shift keyword, which allows a player to play the Floodborn version on top of a matching Storyborn character for a reduced ink cost. For example, Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcerer can be shifted onto Mickey Mouse – True Friend.
Most Floodborn characters have higher stats or more impactful abilities than their Storyborn counterparts, reflecting their transformation.
Known Floodborn characters
- Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcerer (shift from Mickey Mouse – True Friend)
- Belle – Strange but Special
- Stitch – Carefree Surfer
- Elsa – Spirit of Winter
