CompatibilityAll standard sets

A Booster Pack is the primary randomized product in Disney Lorcana. Each booster pack contains 12 cards from a specific set, including a guaranteed foil card. Booster packs are sold individually, in booster boxes (24 packs), and included in other products like starter decks and the Illumineer's Trove.

Product contents

A standard Lorcana Booster Pack contains:

  • 6 common cards
  • 3 uncommon cards
  • 2 rare, super rare, or legendary cards
  • 1 foil card of any rarity (common, uncommon, rare, super rare, legendary, or enchanted)

The foil card replaces a common in the pack – it does not take the slot of a rare or legendary. Starting with Fabled (Set 9), the foil card is guaranteed to be in a separate slot, and the pack may also include an additional rare or legendary.

Card distribution by set

While the basic distribution remains consistent, some sets have introduced variations:

  • The First Chapter – 204 base cards + 12 Enchanted variants. Enchanted cards appear in approximately 1 in 96 packs (1 in 4 booster boxes).
  • Rise of the Floodborn – Reduced Enchanted frequency to 1 in 144 packs (1 in 6 boxes).
  • All subsequent sets – Enchanted cards appear in roughly 1 in 144 packs.
  • Fabled onward – Epic rarity cards appear approximately 1 in 48 packs; Iconic rarity appears 1 in 288 packs (1 in 12 boxes).

Release information

Booster packs are released alongside each main set, typically in two waves:

  • Local game stores (LGS) – on the official prerelease or LGS release date
  • Mass retail – approximately two weeks later (except for simultaneous worldwide releases starting with Fabled)

Other products containing booster packs

Booster packs are also included in:

Sealed and draft play

Booster packs are used for limited formats:

  • Sealed – Players open 6 packs and build a 40‑card deck.
  • Draft – Players take turns picking cards from passing packs (usually 3 packs per player).

Ravensburger has released official guidance for running booster draft events, though the format is less common than sealed due to the need for 8 players and the complexity of card evaluation.

Trivia

  • The foil card in each pack is often a chase for collectors. Some foil legendary cards are worth significantly more than their non‑foil versions.
  • Booster packs from The First Chapter initially sold for well above MSRP due to supply shortages.
  • Pack artwork features a different character from the set on the front. For The First Chapter, the pack art showed Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Tailor.
  • Starting with Wilds Unknown, some booster packs include a "list card" showing all cards in the set (similar to Magic: The Gathering's "checklist cards").
