Elsa – Snow Queen is a Amethyst Dreamborn character card in Disney Lorcana. It was first released in the game’s debut set, The First Chapter, as card number 60/204. It is one of the most powerful control cards in the set, known for its ability to freeze opposing characters for an entire turn cycle.

Flavor text

"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, not a footprint to be seen."

Abilities

  • Evasive – Only characters with Evasive can challenge this character.
  • On Play Ability – When you play this character, you may exert up to two chosen opposing characters. Those characters do not ready at the start of their controller’s next turn. (This effectively skips their next untap step.)

Rarity and variants

This card is available in the following forms:

  • Legendary – Standard foil and non‑foil versions in The First Chapter.
  • No Enchanted variant exists for this card (Enchanted cards in The First Chapter are a different set of 12 cards).

Strategy

Elsa – Snow Queen is a premier control card in Amethyst decks. Her on‑play ability can lock down two opposing characters for an entire turn, preventing them from questing, challenging, or using abilities that require exertion. This can be devastating against aggressive decks that rely on multiple questers.

Because she has Evasive, she is difficult to remove via challenges. Her 6 Willpower makes her resilient to damage‑based removal. She is often played on turn 8 or earlier with ramp from Sapphire or Sapphire support.

Common combos include:

  • Pairing with Ruby's board wipes (like Be Prepared) to clear the board after freezing threats.
  • Using with Amethyst's bounce effects to replay Elsa and freeze additional characters.

Notable deck archetypes

  • Ruby/Amethyst Control – Elsa is a top‑end finisher that locks down opposing boards while you build toward a win condition.
  • Sapphire/Amethyst Ramp – Uses Sapphire's ink acceleration to play Elsa as early as turn 5 or 6.

Trivia

  • The artwork is illustrated by Nicholas Kole, who also illustrated the D23 Expo Collector's Set cards.
  • The flavor text is a lyric from "Let It Go" from Disney's Frozen.
  • This card was one of the most expensive singles during The First Chapter era, often selling for over $50 at peak demand.
  • The freeze effect (characters not readying) is unique to Elsa – Snow Queen and a few other cards in later sets.
