Quest is a core game mechanic in Disney Lorcana. It is the primary way to gain Lore and progress toward winning the game. Only Character cards may quest.
How to quest
During your main phase, you may exert (turn sideways) any number of your ready characters to send them on a quest. When a character quests, you gain an amount of Lore equal to the Lore value printed on that character. For example, a character with 2 grants 2 Lore when it quests.
A character cannot quest if it is already exerted (from a previous turn, from challenging, or from an ability that exerted it).
Rules
- Questing does not cause the character to leave play; it remains on the board, exerted.
- A character can quest once per turn (unless an effect allows additional quests).
- You may quest with multiple characters in the same turn. You may also mix questing and challenging in any order.
- Questing does not count as an action or ability; it is a basic game action.
Strategic considerations
- Characters with high Lore values are prime targets for opponent's challenges.
- Some cards (primarily in Emerald) can prevent characters from questing or punish questing.
- Effects that ready a character after questing allow it to quest again or be available to challenge later.
Flavor
In the story of Lorcana, Illumineers send their glimmers on quests to retrieve lost Lore fragments from the Great Illuminary. Each successful quest brings the Illumineer closer to restoring the magical stories of the Disney universe.
