Guidelines are community‑accepted best practices for editing and organizing the Lorcana Wiki. Unlike rules (which are enforceable), guidelines are recommendations to help maintain consistency and quality.
General editing guidelines
Be bold, but not reckless
If you see something that can be improved, improve it! However, if your change is large or controversial, consider discussing it on the article’s talk page first.
Cite your sources
Whenever possible, provide references for factual claims (release dates, card rulings, story details). Use `<ref>` tags and a `==References==` section. Official sources (Ravensburger, Disney, set announcements) are preferred.
No original research on mechanics
You may document how cards interact based on official rules, but do not invent new mechanics or speculate on future releases unless clearly marked as “Speculation” or “Unofficial”.
Use the preview button
Before saving, click “Show preview” to check for errors. This reduces clutter in page history.
Write from a neutral point of view
Avoid hype or derogatory language. Describe cards and strategies factually.
Card page guidelines
Every card page must use the infobox {{Glimmer 3}}. See Template:Glimmer 3 for usage.
Filling in infobox fields
- For characters that have no ability or flavor text, put `N/A` in those fields.
- For Actions, Songs, and Items, leave unrelated fields (like Strength, Willpower, Lore) blank – do not fill them with `N/A`.
Page naming
Use the exact card name as printed (e.g., “Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor”). If multiple cards share the same name, add the set abbreviation in parentheses: “Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor (The First Chapter)”.
Categorization order
When adding categories to a card page, follow this exact order. Skip any that do not apply.
Cards Character - (e.g., Mickey Mouse) Franchise - (e.g., Beauty & the Beast) — broad then specific (e.g., Mickey Mouse & Friends, Steamboat Willie) Cards from Set - (e.g., Cards from The First Chapter) Card Type - (e.g., Characters) Characters from Set - (e.g., Characters from The First Chapter) Card Color - (e.g., Ruby Cards) Card Color from Set - (e.g., Ruby Cards from The First Chapter) Card Type Color - (e.g., Amber Characters) Card Type Color from Set - (e.g., Amber Characters from The First Chapter) Card Inkability - (e.g., Inkable Cards) Card Type Inkability - (e.g., Uninkable Characters) Card Cost - (e.g., 4 Cost Cards) Card Type Cost - (e.g., 4 Cost Characters) Strength - (e.g., Characters with 5 Strength) Willpower - (e.g., Characters with 5 Willpower) Lore - (e.g., Characters with 4 Lore) Effects - (e.g., Characters with Effects, Vanilla Characters) Keywords (in order listed on card) - (e.g., Characters with Evasive) Classifications (in order listed) - (e.g., Heroes) Card Rarity - (e.g., Common Cards) Card Rarity from Set - (e.g., Rare Cards from The First Chapter) Card Type Rarity - (e.g., Legendary Characters) Card Type Rarity from Set - (e.g., Enchanted Characters from The First Chapter) Artist (in order listed) - (e.g., Nicholas Kole)
